Insomnia & Sleep Problems — Treatment in Mohali & Online Across India
Insomnia means difficulty falling asleep, staying asleep, or waking unrefreshed — often enough to affect your day. It can occur on its own or alongside stress, anxiety or low mood. It is treatable, and treatment does not always mean sleeping tablets. Dr Pragya Sharma offers assessment in person in Mohali and online across India.

When to seek help
If poor sleep has lasted more than a few weeks, or is affecting your mood, work or health, an assessment can identify the cause and the right approach.
How treatment works
Assessment looks at your sleep pattern, routine and any underlying causes. Treatment draws on evidence-based approaches such as sleep-focused behavioural strategies — the recommended first-line treatment for long-term insomnia — alongside addressing any linked anxiety or mood difficulty. Medication is used only where genuinely needed, and for a defined period.

FAQs
Is medication the only treatment for insomnia?
No. For long-term insomnia, behavioural approaches (often called CBT-I) are the recommended first-line treatment and work well for many people. Medication may have a limited, short-term role where appropriate.
Could my sleep problem be linked to something else?
Often, yes. Insomnia frequently travels with stress, anxiety, low mood or physical health issues. Part of the assessment is understanding what is driving it, so treatment addresses the cause, not just the symptom.
